Experimental Removal of Roi
Eric Conklin, PI

There is growing public sentiment that the invasive fish, Cephalopholis argus is causing declines in desirable native fishes through predation on small fishes of many species. In response to this, fishers have begun to organize “roi roundups” where roi are selectively speared. HCRI will fund Dr. Eric Conklin and Dr. Charles Birkeland to determine the actual impact roi have on native reef fish communities and evaluate management options to ameliorate any negative effect.
